Holistic Center Focuses on Total Physical and Mental Health

Bio Energy Medical Center is a holistic medical center focusing on total physical and mental health that treats illness at its source and facilitates patients’ innate healing capacity, leading to wellness with an individually tailored therapeutic program.

Founder James Neuenschwander, M.D., says, “Unlike most conventional medical offices, we use a variety of specialty lab tests, energy tests and live blood cell analysis to identify the core clinical imbalances that are contributing to your health problems. We assess your nutritional status and vitamin levels, digestive health and detoxification capacity, mitochondrial function, adrenal stress and more. We are a rare office, in that our scope is not narrowed by a specific specialty, but encompasses all of traditional medicine, integrative medicine, herbal medicine, nutrition, orthomolecular medicine and functional medicine.”

Bio Energy Medical Center opened in 1988 as a center to find and treat the underlying cause of a person’s symptoms. To this day, that same mission remains true. What started as two practitioners with a vision has grown to two medical doctors, three nurse practitioners, one homeopathic physician and one acupuncturist.

“We see patients who have been struggling with chronic conditions such as autism and childhood behavioral disorders, fibromyalgia, chronic Lyme/Epstein-Barr, chronic fatigue, autoimmune disorders, functional bowel disorders, allergies and asthma, cardiovascular disease and cancer. Most of these patients show up at our practice after seeing many, many other practitioners who have not been able to help them,” says Neuenschwander.

In many cases, physicians are trained to diagnose disease and treat the symptoms of that disease, rather than treat its cause. “At Bio Energy Medical Center, we look underneath the symptoms to find the root cause. We believe that symptoms are a warning sign of an underlying problem in the body. Frequently, medicine treats conditions by suppressing the symptoms,” he notes.

Bio Energy Medical Center has had great success in dealing with problems other health practitioners have given up on. “We help the body detoxify itself of toxins that cause symptoms instead of just building up the immunity to handle the most current stressor and look at health from the holistic view point. In addition to physical health, we take into account mental and emotional wellness,” says Neuenschwander.

Neuenschwander is board certified in emergency medicine, integrative and holistic medicine, as well as anti-aging and regenerative medicine. He received undergraduate, medical and medical postgraduate training from the University of Michigan. In addition, he is a fellow of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and  holds a certification in chelation therapy. He is a member of A4M, ACAM and ILADS. He has been a DAN! Practitioner since 2007, a member of Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs (MAPS) since its founding, and a MAPS fellow since 2014.

“At Bio Energy Medical Center, we spend the time needed to understand you and discover the root cause of your health concerns,” advises Neuenschwander. They schedule new patient visits for one to two hours and follow-up visits for 30 to 60 minutes. “We run our business with respect for your time, and do not leave you sitting in the waiting room for long periods, only to move you to an exam room to wait again,” Neuenschwander explains.
