Local philanthropists Harold and Kay Peplau have donated $50,000 in matching funds to Food Gatherers to celebrate the organization’s 30th anniversary. That will double the value of all donations made to Food Gatherers in Washtenaw County during the month of March.

Food Gatherers began its journey in 1988 with a borrowed van and pilot funding from Zingerman’s Deli. The organization grew and thrived around its mission to fight hunger where we live. Over the years, Food Gatherers has made meaningful progress toward its original goal while expanding its mission to address the root causes of food insecurity.
