2018 Gardening and DIY Fest

The Downtown Library will conduct a series of activities on May 13 designed to educate and enlighten participants.

12:30 p.m. to 5:30pm: The Gardening and DIY Fest is an all-day celebration of gardening, nature, and the DIY spirit! Learn gardening basics including composting, vermiculture, and container gardening, as well as how to keep backyard bees, chickens and goats.

1 to 1:45 p.m. · Backyard Chickens with Gail Caird, a lecture about raising backyard chickens in Ann Arbor.

1 to 4 p.m. · Drop-In DIY to make a button, build a mason bee house, plant a succulent and watch a screen printing demonstration by Modati Studios.

2 to 2:45 p.m.: Keeping Backyard Animals, a learning session about the basics of keeping and caring for animals.

2–2:45 p.m.: Learn the techniques and tricks of bonsai from of Matthaei Botanical Gardens.

4 to 4:45 p.m.: The Beauty of Native Plants: Their Function in Supporting Wildlife, with Drew Lathin, from Sustainable Landscapes.
