Reduce Waste at Clean Refillery

Clean Refillery is the only zero-waste refilling shop in Lansing. New products include Who Gives A Crap Recycled Toilet Paper and Forest Friendly Paper Towel. Owner Alexa Hecksel says, “The Forest Friendly paper towel is made of bamboo and sugar cane! I love using the paper towel for filling in the gaps that I don’t use my Swedish dish cloth for—pet messes, bathroom cleaning, etc.”

Hecksel opened in 2020 after struggling to find eco-friendly personal care and home products. They carry items in bulk for patrons to replenish their own reusable containers or those purchased onsite. Clean Refillery donates 50 percent of their profits to ensure everyone has access to clean water and a toilet within our lifetime.

They stock home and essential personal care items such as shampoo, detergent, soaps and more as well as zero- and low-waste items like produce bags, deodorant, toothpaste and hair ties. Products are sourced from sustainable companies and brands, including Michigan-based firms. Most products in the shop are vegan and cruelty-free.
