Growing Mushrooms with Growing Hope

The University of Michigan Permaculture Design Team and Growing Hope are conducting an Indoor Mushroom Cultivation Workshop from 3 to 7 p.m., March 13, at the Ypsilanti farmers’ market. Participants will receive a low-maintenance mushroom growing kit and all materials are provided. They will learn to grow oyster mushrooms indoors using accessible household items. We don’t need to own land to grow fresh mushrooms while the ground thaws.

Growing Hope is committed to providing improved lives and communities through greater access to healthy foods, as demonstrated in the farmers’ markets they manage. By providing a venue for farmers, urban gardens and other entrepreneurs, they contribute to local economies, developing downtowns and strengthening communities.

Admission is free. Location: 16 S. Washington St., Ypsilanti. For more information, call 734-707-1795 or email [email protected].
