Raising Funds to Feed the Hungry

The 29th Grillin’ for Food Gatherers will take place from 3 to 8 p.m., June 10, on the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds, where 2,000 guests are expected for a community picnic that features live music, food from more than 50 local restaurants, beer and wine, a silent auction and activities for all ages. Each adult ticket sold provides 150 meals to those in need; a child ticket provides 15 meals.

Guests can look forward to a menu of grilled gourmet sausages and side dishes from local restaurants, followed by desserts from Zingerman’s Bakehouse, Zingerman’s Creamery and Mity Nice Italian Ice. Vegan and gluten-free options are available. The bar features diverse regional microbrews and wine.

There is an area for kids with activities hosted by the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum, a free photo booth, lawn games and face painting. The musical lineup includes blues and rock from George Bedard and the Kingpins and other local singer/songwriters.

 

Admission is $75 in advance; $10 for kids 3 to 13; under 3 free. At the gate, tickets are $85/$10; all include buffet, dessert and entertainment. Location; 5055 Ann Arbor Saline Rd., Ann Arbor.
