Virtual Childbirth Education Classes at Birth Detroit

Birth Detroit offers Detroit women safe, quality, loving care through pregnancy, birth and the postpartum journey. The Birth Detroit Childbirth Education online series will be featuring six, 120-minute, virtual childbirth education classes over six weeks. Instructors include Elon Geffrard, doula and childbirth educator; and birth and postpartum doulas and childbirth educators Erika Millender and Kristin Lacy.

Topics are the importance of nutrition and stress management during pregnancy, the stages of labor, comfort techniques for labor, postpartum and newborn care and more. Handouts and access to birth professionals are included. Class options include day sessions on Saturdays or evening sessions on Thursdays.

Childbirth classes help build confidence in the body’s ability to give birth. Participants can discuss their fears about labor and birth with the instructor and other couples with the same concerns. Partners will learn about childbirth and how to support the new mother on the big day. A childbirth class will also teach about what to expect immediately after the baby is born and in the first few weeks and months after birth.
