Run for the Ribbon Returns to Detroit Zoo for Prostate Cancer Support
The
Michigan Men’s Health Foundation will host its annual Run for the Ribbon 5K
Run/Walk at 8 a.m., June 15, 2025, at the Detroit Zoo. This event supports prostate
cancer survivors and the loved ones that champion their journey. Participants
can choose between a 5K loop or a 1-mile stroll through the zoo, each including
a race shirt, medal and complimentary zoo admission.
This year’s event introduces a range of
new features to honor and celebrate those affected by prostate cancer.
Attendees may dedicate a free "In Celebration of" sign, displayed
along the course and taken home afterward, or personalize back bibs and colored
beads corresponding to their honoree’s journey. A Hero Wall offers space for
ribbons and names to be pinned in tribute. Race winners and top fundraisers
receive awards, including special recognition for the most recent father.
Prostate cancer survivors are invited to
visit the Michigan Men’s Health Foundation tent to receive a commemorative
gift. The event also features large yard games and friendly competitions before
and after the race. For supporters unable to attend, the Doze for Dads option
provides a way to participate without attending in person. Age-based discounts
are available, and all participants, including stroller entries, must register.
Location:
8450 W. 10 Mile Rd., Royal Oak. For more information or to register, call
