The Ruhala Center: Where Performance Meets Purpose

At the Ruhala Center, in East Lansing, theater is more than entertainment—it’s a vehicle for transformation. Blending professional-caliber training with a deep respect for each student’s individuality, the center has carved out a unique space in Michigan’s performing arts landscape.
Founded by Mark and Celina Ruhala, both veteran performers and educators, the center offers a holistic approach to the performing arts. With classes in acting, voice, dance and musical theater for children, teens and adults, the focus is on nurturing confidence, creativity and personal growth alongside technical skill.

What sets the Ruhala Center apart is its commitment to process. While public performances are a vital part of the experience, equal emphasis is placed on the inner journey—developing presence, discipline and the courage to take creative risks.

Director Mark Ruhala, a seasoned Broadway performer and choreographer, brings decades of industry experience to the studio. His guidance is matched by a faculty of professionals who are not only skilled artists, but also passionate mentors.

The center regularly stages high-quality productions, from Broadway classics to original works, giving students the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in a supportive, professional setting. Musical Director Jeff English, a longtime collaborator, brings a rich musicality to the center’s shows, elevating the artistic standard.

Location: 1846 Haslett Rd., East Lansing. For more information, call 517-337-0464 or visit RuhalaCenter.com.
