French-Inspired Cafe Brings Authentic Crepes to Northern Michigan
A taste of France continues to flourish, in Northern Michigan, as Crêpes & Co brings authentic, made-to-order crêpes and café culture to Traverse City. Founded in May 2018, the eatery reflects a blend of European culinary tradition and local community spirit, offering both savory and sweet options rooted in classic French recipes.
Owner and chef Vanessa Grasset introduces a menu inspired by her heritage, featuring traditional buckwheat crêpes that mirror those found across France. Among the most popular offerings is the Complete, a simple yet iconic combination of egg, ham and cheese served on a gluten-free buckwheat base. Sweet selections, including banana and chocolate crêpes, cater to a wide range of tastes, while seasonal ingredients—such as locally sourced strawberries—shape rotating specials.
In 2021, the business expanded its offerings by incorporating Grind Coffee Co, elevating its beverage program with fresh coffee roasts, organic cold brew and house-made chai. The café also features espresso beverages crafted with attention to quality and consistency. Signature French comfort foods like the Croque Monsieur further anchor the menu in authenticity.
Now operating from a new café-style space on Park Street, the business continues to evolve. The updated location introduces outdoor seating and serves as the home base for a growing sauce venture, featuring house-developed hot sauces and future retail products designed for everyday use.
