Organic Vineyard Invites Guests Behind the Scenes
Leelanau County’s only organic vineyard provides guests with an opportunity to learn about regenerative farming practices while enjoying estate-grown wines, handcrafted ciders and immersive farm experiences. The family-owned destination blends agriculture, education and hospitality in a picturesque setting near Northport.
Founded on a commitment to regenerative agriculture, Green Bird Organic Cellars & Farm is owned by Tim and Betsy Hearin, who cultivate estate-grown wines, ciders and farm products in Northport. The family established the farm to demonstrate how sustainable growing practices can support the long-term health of the soil, crops and surrounding ecosystem while producing high-quality agricultural products.
One of the farm’s most popular attractions is its family-friendly farm tour experience. Guests are invited behind the scenes for a guided exploration of the vineyard, orchard, gardens and production areas while learning about the farm’s regenerative growing methods. Led by the owner and winemaker, the tours provide insight into organic farming practices and the process of creating estate-grown wines and handcrafted hard ciders.
Visitors also have opportunities to meet the farm’s sheep and chickens, explore the wine cellar, and gain a deeper understanding of how sustainable farming practices contribute to high-quality agricultural products. In addition to educational tours, guests can enjoy locally produced wines, handcrafted ciders and fresh farm products while connecting with the natural beauty of Northern Michigan.
