Hear Great Tales at Storyfest

Steve Daut

Storyfest, formerly Tellabration, will be conducted by the Ann Arbor Storytellers Guild at 7 p.m., October 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church ($15) for adults, and at 2 p.m., October 13, at the Ann Arbor District Library, Traverwood Branch (free) for the whole family. Storytellers include Jane Fink, M.C. Beverly Black, Steve Daut, Lorelle Otis, Jennifer Otto, Rich Swanson, and Tom Venable.

The Ann Arbor Storytellers Guild is a group of people that enjoy telling and listening to stories of all kinds. Members range from those that occasionally tell stories as a fascinating pastime in their otherwise busy lives to professional storytellers that make their living doing something they love.

Storytelling as an art form is both ancient and contemporary. It may well have been humankind’s earliest art form, along with poetry. By telling traditional folk tales, original fables or heartfelt personal stories, storytellers illuminate aspects of life that we share and help us connect at the most fundamental level.

Location: 1400 W. Stadium Blvd., Ann Arbor (church); 3333 Traverwood Dr., Ann Arbor (librart). For more information, visit AnnArborStorytelling.org.
