Acclaimed geneticist DJ Short will be streaming live on the Om of Medicine Medical Research Center Facebook page and Twitch for a cannabis-growing seminar from 4:20 to 6 p.m., June 14. This event is a fundraiser for the University of Michigan Prison Creative Arts Project (PCAP).

Short says, “We have been working with PCAP for the past couple years and want to continue supporting their work to provide creative outlets to incarcerated artists as a way of therapy, livelihood and self-expression. We enjoy having multiple PCAP art pieces on display at Om and have even gotten the chance to meet some of the artists in person, bringing us closer to the organization and community.”

Topics include basic- to advanced-level growing tips and techniques; therapeutic aspects; species variance of different strains; quality selection process; industry ethics; and a historical overview of cannabis cultivation and culture. A cannabis breeder since the 70s, Short has produced some unique strains. His Blueberry strain placed first in the Indica category at the 2000 Cannabis Cup.
