Song of the Morning Yoga Retreat

Nonprofit Song of the Morning yoga retreat center, founded in 1970 by Yogacharya Oliver Black, is located on 800 acres of Michigan northern woodlands, and welcomes truth-seekers from all paths and traditions to experience spiritual refreshment and relaxation. They are holding ongoing three-hour meditations with their Clear Light Community from 1 to 4 p.m., January 7, and on the first Saturday of each month in the lodge hermitage. The meditations are rooted in the tradition of Paramahansa Yogananda and Self-Realization Fellowship.

Each hour of the meditation begins with a period of chanting, prayer and an inspirational reading, followed by a period of silent meditation. Participants are welcome to come and go on the hour during the periods of chanting or take a short stretching break. They should wear comfortable, loose clothing.

Many people start meditating to manage stress, reduce anxiety and cultivate peace of mind, and there are thousands of studies documenting other less-known mindfulness meditation benefits which can have a positive impact on mental, physical and emotional health.
