KUDOS - Jamie Junior

Detroit resident Jamie Junior was crowned the 16th Ms. Wheelchair Michigan for 2023 last December. Her next stop is the national Ms. Wheelchair America competition, in Grand Rapids, in August. Junior works at the Disability Network of Wayne County using a wheelchair for mobility because she was born with cerebral palsy. She says, “I feel validated as an advocate and as a woman.”

She plans to use her platform to focus on financial empowerment and stability for people with disabilities, especially when it comes to housing and transportation. Ms. Wheelchair America provides a national platform for women with disabilities to exhibit their own kind of glamor while encouraging and informing the viewers of their competitions and all those involved.
