Celebrate Juneteenth Festival

The second annual Dearborn and Dearborn Heights Juneteenth Festival, held  from 1 to 4 p.m., June 19, at the Richard A. Young Recreation Center, will celebrate the heritage, freedom and excellence of African Americans with a day of entertainment and fun, including live music, a hustle workshop, food trucks and bounce houses.

President Biden signed legislation in 2021 that recognizes June 19 as the day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. Juneteenth marks a date of major significance in American history and shows us that freedom and racial equality have always been a hard-fought battle for black Americans—a battle that continues to this day.

Admission is free. Location: 5400 McKinley St., Dearborn Heights. For more information, call Leslie Windless at 313-695-7054 or visit Tinyurl.com/DearbornJuneteenth.
