World Day of Prayer at Unity

Unity of Livonia will observe the 29th annual World Day of Prayer at 7 p.m., September 7, in a special service led by prayer chaplains. This year’s theme is, “Holding the high watch.” The Unity approach to prayer is based on affirmative, conscious communication with God, and has a universal, interfaith appeal. As they await the 2022 World Day of Prayer, they are asking, “How can I elevate my mind? What does it mean to hold the high watch?” and “How does my prayer make a difference?”

Unity was founded on the power of positive prayer and the seemingly miraculous healing of co-founder Myrtle Fillmore. She discovered that by repeating the affirming phrase, “I am a perfect child of God, and therefore did not inherit illness,” spending time in conscious communication with God and through changes in how she cared for herself in body, mind and spirit, she was able to heal herself of tuberculosis.
