25 Years of Breast Cancer Walks

The 25th Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 2022 Walk Detroit will take place on October 8 at Hart Plaza with the goal of raising $650,000 to help the American Cancer Society fund life-saving breast cancer research, crucial patient services and education and prevention initiatives that have helped millions of people. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m., with activities and the walk from 9 a.m. to noon.

There are several other ways for people to get involved. Making Strides has always been more than a walk; it is a movement. Corporate leaders in the community can sponsor the movement to ensure they can reunite, celebrate and honor local survivors and thrivers during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Breast cancer survivors can support other survivors providing help and hope to people facing breast cancer through the American Cancer Society Reach To Recovery support program. Volunteers help out virtually throughout the year.

Fundraising  enables investing in breast cancer research to better understand, prevent, find and treat the disease and provides free rides to chemo, free places to stay near hospitals, a live 24/7 cancer helpline and more.
