Outdoor Kirtan at Island Park

Ann Arbor Kirtan is a nonprofit group of volunteer musicians and singers from a variety of yoga disciplines that engage in chanting as a spiritual practice. They will present an Autumn Ann Arbor Kirtan at 6:30 p.m., October 7, at Island Park, with Matt Pancone (vocals and harmonium), John Churchville (tabla), Dennis Chernin (vocals and harmonium) and three close Cleveland friends from Enchanted Hearts: Rick Frires (bass guitar and vocals), Char Smith Frires (vocals) and Samuel Salsbury (violin and sarangi). Guests may bring a chair or floor cushion—there is limited seating onsite.

Ann Arbor Kirtan facilitates free, public, devotional music events as a service to the community to provide an opportunity for people from all backgrounds to share in the experience of kirtan and devotional music. Some or all the members may be available to facilitate a kirtan program for a community, organization, festival or studio.

Location: 1441 Island Dr., Ann Arbor. For more information, email [email protected] or visit KirtanAnnArbor.org.
