Soup’s On at the Green House Café

The Green House Café downtown, open since 2000, makes seven homemade soups every day, with vegetarian options. Owners Wally and Joy Green say, “We have our famous French onion soup daily. We update our website daily with new soups, so keep checking back to see today’s specials!” In the summer, they offer a variety of cold soups such as gazpacho.

            Open for breakfast and lunch, there are fresh pastries made from scratch daily, including big-as-your-head muffins that are a meal by themselves. The TC Reubens is stacked with lean corned beef, a special blend of sauerkraut, dried cherries and provolone cheese. The Green House Salad features penne pasta marinated in a citrus blend, tossed with fresh baby spinach, dried cherries, walnuts, mandarin oranges and topped with citrus chicken. A breakfast menu includes the local favorite Eggs Neptune, made with homemade crab cakes, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce and hash browns.
