Fifth Annual Bees in the D at The Whitney

The fifth annual Bees in the D Honey Bee Dinner will take place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., September 13, at The Whitney, with a three-course dinner hosted by Peninsula Cellars Winery, including plated, honey-hive appetizers, sparkling mead and a tour of The Whitney hives.

Bees in the D founder Brian Peterson-Roest says, “Since 2010, I have been a hobbyist beekeeper and have come to realize that they are one of the most amazing creatures on this Earth. Sadly, if we don’t act now they will be on the brink of extinction. People do not realize the devastation this will cause globally.”

Nonprofit Bees in the D has a mission to create a community-wide effort between residents, schools, organizations and businesses in Detroit and Southeast Michigan to contribute to the health of honey bee colonies and native pollinators, and the education of their importance to our environment. They sponsor engaging guests and hands-on beehive tours.

Cost is $99. Location: 4421 Woodward Ave., Detroit. Purchase tickets and view the menu at TheWhitney.com/cityfest/Honey-Bee-Dinner. For more information, call 313-462-9624 or email [email protected]
